Show Information
General Information
Turning into the Heart of England Conference Centre, follow the road past reception. You will be met and directed to park.
Disabled parking is available, please display your Blue Badge.
Please be prepared for a typical British summers day; as an outside koi show weather conditions may change rapidly, likewise disabled access may be difficult in the event of certain prolonged weather conditions.
Please be patient and courteous to our volunteer show staff, recognisable by distinct show shirts – Saturday and Sunday mornings can be busy, with entrance queue times of 10 to 15 minutes.
We accept cash or card for entrance payments, please see our Socials for costs and concessions. We would ask that you keep your entrance wristband on, as upon entering or leaving, our show staff may ask for this to be displayed.
We are dog friendly, although we do ask that you keep your dog in control and on a lead.
We have on site medical facilities and children must be accompanied at all times.
Exhibitor Information
We usually open exhibitor vat bookings at Easter, all bookings are carried out via our Shop.
Upon booking, the following document is provided to all exhibitors, which we’d ask that you read, as it provides further clarity & useful links.
Bookings are subsequently confirmed via our Benching Team, and your exhibitor vat number allocated – if you book a show vat and you do not receive your allocated vat number you must let us know.
The National Koi Show currently adopt the Koi Policy Group Show Rules & Guidelines. These rules apply to all one or two day koi shows held in the U.K. and are maintained by the Koi Policy Group (KPG) in accordance with DEFRA standards.
These can be found on the KJUKO website.
Show Vat Information
The National Show Committee takes great care with both vat setup and show ground water quality. We offer the choice of a 2.5 or 2.8 metre vat catering for different exhibitor requirements.
As you would expect we carry out a comprehensive set of water readings; pH, dissolved oxygen, ammonia & temperature. We utilise calibrated Hanna equipment with multiple individual daily vat readings.
- Koi Show Pro (KSP) instructions are provided to all exhibitors
- Instructions for online benching via KSP, should this be an option, are provided to exhibitors 6-8 weeks prior to the show
If you require more information over the show weekend, please let one of the Show Team know.
Maximum Fish Per Vat
In a 2.5 metre vat, maximum allowed fish – 14
In a 2.8 metre vat, maximum allowed fish – 17
Vat Points (Maximum)
We have a vat points system for both 2.8 and 2.5 metre vats, the maximum points value for each vat should be used when planning which fish to exhibit. You must not exceed these points when Benching (Friday), should that happen, we will ask for those fish to be returned to their home pond.
2.5 metre vat – 41 points
2.8 metre vat – 51 points
Points are accorded by size, these are:
Size 1 = 1 point
Size 2 = 1.5 points
Size 3 = 2 points
Size 4 = 3.5 points
Size 5 = 6 points
Size 6 = 9 points
Size 7 = 13 points
Size 8 = 16 points
Vat Setup
After their Virkon scrub, careful placement and dividing splash screens fitted at the correct height, each vat is connected to our Centre Ring trickle in/out system.
Exhibitor vats are continually dechlorinated via Big Blue vessels utilising Bonerchar, flow rates can also be adjusted.
Four large air-stones maximise O2 saturation, and as we are an outdoor show ample shade netting is also in place.
