- AC – Adult Champion – See The Awards Structure for more information
- Asagi / Shusui – This is a Show Class
- BC – Baby Champion – See The Awards Structure for more information
- Bekko – This is a Show Class
- Benching – Benching is the process koi go through before being accepted into the show and involves measuring, health checking and assigning to a show and size class
- Closed Show – This refers to the exhibitors of the show being only members of the organising club
- De-Benching – De-benching is the process of your koi being bagged, boxed and taken home at the end of the show
- D Bowl – A D-shaped bowl used for benching

- Hikari Muji – This is a Show Class
- Hikari Moyo – This is a Show Class
- Hikari Utsuri – This is a Show Class
- JC – Jumbo Champion – See The Awards Structure for more information
- Kawarimono – This is a Show Class
- KinGinRin – This is a Show Class
- Kohaku – This is a Show Class
- KoiShowPro (KSP) – Digital software for the management of the exhibition side of a koi show, allows online pre-show benching and judging via tablets
- Koromo – This is a Show Class
- Major Awards – Major Awards are awarded during the third round of judging – see The Awards Structure for more information

- National Koi Show – The National Koi Show organise the National Koi Show.
- Open Show – A show that welcomes any exhibitors, not a Closed (Club) Show.

- Vat – The blue circular pool that your koi will swim in whilst at the show
